Precast concrete traffic barriers are a safety solution for retaining walls with vehicular traffic on top.<\/h2>\n

It allows a contractor to set precast traffic barriers along the top of the wall, greatly reducing the use of cast-in-place concrete. These concrete traffic barriers are designed to rest atop the retaining wall and are delivered to the site with protruding dowels to tie into the cast-in-place moment slab.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Precast Traffic Barriers<\/h2>\n

RECo has vast experience with designing traffic barriers and continues to refine the process. The traffic barriers can be either standardized or custom designed to provide a cost-effective way to complete a retaining wall structure. Special barrier units can be designed to accommodate light poles, electrical conduits, drainage inlets, sound wall posts, sign structures, guide rail transition barriers, bridge approach slabs, tight curves and other odd geometry in the barrier\u2019s alignment. These are all items that can slow down a cast-in-place process, especially on long stretches of road or large projects with many walls.<\/p>\n

There are two types of precast concrete traffic barriers.<\/p>\n

Complete Vertical Barrier<\/h2>\n

The entire vertical portion of the traffic barrier unit is precast and gets tied into the cast-in-place moment slab with the embedded rebars on the back.<\/p>\n

Half Connector<\/h2>\n

It is just like a precast coping but with embedded rebars on the top for a cast-in-place parapet and embedded rebars on the back for the cast-in-place moment slab.<\/p>\n<\/div>
